Glossary Item Box

There are a number of Settings that can be applied to Percentages. Some are accessed by right clicking on the element in the Layout Assets slider bar or on the percentage column/row in the report grid,  and some can be set as defaults through the Settings Button. Both options are outlined below.

ShowRight click settings in Layout Assets button for Percentages

If you right click on Percentages in Layout Assets you will have the following setting choices:

  • Right Display of % - will place % as a column to the right of the columns on screen
  • Below Display of % - will place % as a row below the rows on screen
  • Calculate against Grand Total - will calculate the item as a % of the grand total
  • Calculate against Parent Total - will calculate the item as a % of a parent total. (See note below on what Parent means)
  • % applied to Data - will apply the percentages across all data on the grid - including each item, totals and grand totals
  • % applied to Totals - will apply percentages to all totals only - not all individual items
  • % applied to Grand Totals - will apply percentages to Grand Totals only - not all individual items or other Totals
  • %calculated on > $, #, Secs, Col/Cms, Pgs, Vol - has a sub menu that indicates what data type to calculate the percentage on. Particularly used when there is more than one data type on the report.
  • Auto Data Type - this means if there is only one data type on the report - it will automatically calculate percentages against that data type. This is on by default.
  • Apply percentages to sub levels - will apply percentages to all sub levels without manually placing it at every level below level selected
  • Apply percentages to all similar levels - will apply percentages to all similar levels in the report without manually placing it at each one.
  • Remove all percentages - will remove all percentage calculations from that report. (Ctrl+Alt+p will also work)

ShowDefault Settings for Percentages

There are a few settings that can be applied for Percentages in the Settings button. They are:

Decimal Places - sets the number of decimal places up to 5 places

Small Value Label - allows you to set anything you like to indicate a small value. e.g. If you have set your decimal places to 1 and your percentage is 0.01% it would be considered a small value so instead of putting as 0.0 you will see whatever value you have entered here. A symbol like * or ~ for example.

Hide Zeros - if checked on will hide any percentage zeros in the report

Percentage Symbol - defaults to % but you can set any symbol you like

NOTE: Parent Total means it will calculate the percentage on the immediate level above instead of against the Grand Total. (I.e. The parent to the item level you are calculating the percentage of).

For example: if you have a report that breaks 'Category' into 'Sub Category' then into 'Advertiser' and applied a Parent Total percentage on the advertiser's - it will calculate the advertiser's percentage against the 'Sub Category' total NOT the 'Category' total (which would be the Grand Total in this case).

Example of figures calculated against the Grand Total of Beverages - Non Alcoholic

Example of same figures calculated against the Parent Total of Cola
