Glossary Item Box

In both the Dictionary and Media tabs there is a Hierarchy Bar that is used to access the information contained within these areas of the database.

This hierarchy bar appears just to the right of the slider bar in both the Dictionary and Media Tabs with the grey background. This bar is vertical in AQX and has a button for each individual level of the hierarchy for that database. (Databases differ depending on supplier/country and thus the actual buttons will too.)

Example of a Hierarchy Bar:

To make a selection using this hierarchy bar - see Create a New Dictionary Selection or Create a New Media Selection.

ShowHow to show 'More' or 'Less' hierarchy level buttons in the hierarchy bar

There may be levels of the hierarchy that aren't used very often or that you don't wish to see all the time. You have the ability to hide certain hierarchy level buttons to, in essence, create a favourites list.

You can then use the More and Less arrows at the bottom left of the buttons to change between showing just your favourites OR all buttons.

To show more or less buttons in your hierarchy:

  1. Right click on the More or Less word beside the arrows at the bottom left of the hierarchy level buttons.
  2. A list of the hierarchy levels will appear - check off the levels you don't want to see
  3. Click anywhere off that list to hide these levels.

To then flick between your favourite list and all  - click on the More/Less arrows to show what you need to see. More will appear when you are seeing the full list. Less will appear when you have the favourite list of less items.

To change the levels shown - repeat the steps above and check on/off the levels you want to see.

ShowReordering the hierarchy levels

The hierarchy levels are flexible and can be moved around to help make selections easier or to see the information in a different light. This works at either the Dictionary or Media tabs.

For example: Advertiser usually sits below Category - however if you would like to see all the categories that an advertiser falls into - you can move the Advertiser level above Category level and make your selection by selecting the Advertiser/s required and then ask it to show breakout Category.

To move the hierarchy level buttons around - just click on the button and drag it to the location required.

ShowClick Mode vs Drag Mode button

The Click/Drag Mode button at the bottom of the hierarchy list will set the mode for selecting items from the hierarchy.

Click Mode  - will mean that you can click on the item and it will appear in the Selected Pane to the right. This also means that any hierarchy item clicked on to move down to the last item selected will be shown.

In Click mode the button will be orange. . The other way to know you are in click mode is that all items will have a empty check box beside it. Also - everything you click on will have a blue cross  in the check box and the text will be in bold blue writing.

Drag Mode - means that only the item you drag across will appear in the Selected Pane and any hierarchy used to make that selection will not be shown.

In Drag Mode the button will be grey. . The other way to know if you are in Drag mode is that there is no empty check box beside each item. Also the text of each item you click on will be highlighted in blue but only the item dragged across will have the bold highlighted blue text with the blue cross  beside it.

ShowClear Button in Hierarchy Bar

This will clear the windows open in the hierarchy bar. It will not clear anything that you have already selected. I.e. it will not clear the items in the Selected Pane.
